What it is and how it works<\/h2>\n

Install Referrer Tracking is an older way to figure out where app installs are coming from. It passes campaign information from the Google Play Store to the app after it\u2019s installed, so marketers can see which ads or promotions actually led to a download.
\nWhen someone clicks on a tracked link to an app in the Play Store, the store records campaign details. After the app is installed and opened for the first time, it pulls that information from the Install Referrer system. This shows which ad or campaign drove the install.<\/p>\n

Limits<\/h2>\n

Although useful, Install Referrer has several limitations. Firstly, it is exclusive to Android<\/strong>, so it cannot be used for cross-platform attribution or tracking installs on iOS.
